The
Wastegate Limits the amount of boost that a Turbo can spool. The Wastegate
protects the engine from damage and ensures the ability to achieve proper
maximum acceleration. There are two classifications of Wastegates, Internal
which functions as a part of the Turbo Housing and External which is mounted on
the Turbo Manifold. Internal Wastegates are an OEM Type Configuration because
they are easy to maintain and don't take up much room. For maximum performance,
upgrading to an External Wastegate allows for Higher Boost levels and fine
tuning through a boost controller.
